Cuarteto KEBYART

Desde su creación el año 2014, Kebyart ha roto barreras y se ha consolidado firmemente en la escena de la música clásica, actuando en reconocidos festivales y salas donde nunca antes se había presentado un cuarteto de saxofones, e inspirando a compositores que nunca habían escrito para este instrumento, como Jörg Widmann. Toda esta trayectoria fue reconocida por ECHO al nombrarlos Rising Stars durante la temporada 2021-2022.

Kebyart actúa regularmente en importantes salas de conciertos europeas como la Philharmonie de París, Elbphilharmonie de Hamburgo, Tonhalle de Zúrich, Alte Oper de Frankfurt, Musikverein de Viena, Concertgebouw de Amsterdam o el Palau de la Música de Barcelona. También participa en festivales como la Mozartwoche de Salzburgo, Heidelberger Frühling, Lockenhaus Festival, Festival Perelada, Schubertíada, Rheingau Musik Festival, Schubertíada, Dresdner Musikfestspiele, Musica Insieme de Bolonia, Hindsgavl Festival o el Festival de Santander, entre otros.

Colaboran con prestigiosas orquestas como la Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester de Berlín, la Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona, la Junge Deutsche Philharmonie y la Orquesta de Radio y Televisión Española, entre otras, así como con artistas como Nicolas Altstaedt, Xavier Sabata y Dénes Várjon, explorando nuevas fusiones y descubriendo nuevas dimensiones sonoras.

El cuarteto será conjunto residente en el Palau de la Música Catalana durante dos temporadas a partir del otoño de 2025 y artista en residencia en el festival alemán de Bodensee en la primavera de 2026, ofreciendo recitales de cuarteto, actuando como solistas con orquesta, colaborando con otros artistas e impartiendo clases magistrales.

La firma inconfundible de Kebyart se refleja en una visión creativa del repertorio, construida en torno a tres ejes: la literatura original, los arreglos propios de una amplia variedad de estilos y el compromiso con la creación contemporánea. En este sentido, el cuarteto encarga anualmente obras a compositores de distintas generaciones y estilos musicales como Mikel Urquiza, David Philip Hefti, Mauricio Sotelo, Joan Magrané, José Río-Pareja, entre otros. Entre los próximos estrenos del cuarteto se encuentran obras de destacados compositores como Georg Friedrich Haas, Gérard Pesson y Marko Nikodijević. También han trabajado con compositores como Péter Eötvös y Heinz Holliger.

Comprometidos con la excelencia musical, Kebyart ha recibido consejos de músicos y conjuntos de música de cámara como Rainer Schmidt (Hagen Quartett), Hatto Beyerle (Alban Berg Quartett), Jonathan Brown (Quartet Casals), los pianistas Anton Kernjak y Claudio Martínez-Mehner y el saxofonista Nacho Gascón. El cuarteto formó parte de la European Chamber Music Academy, trabajando con los profesores Johannes Meissl y Patrick Jüdt.

Desde 2022, graban con el sello Linn Records-Outhere. Sus tres álbumes, Lectures différentes (2022), Traum der Jugend (2023) y Unraveled (2025), han recibido excelentes críticas.  

Los músicos de Kebyart son invitados cada año a impartir clases en la Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) y en otros centros como la Folkwang Universität der Künste Essen, Musikene, IEA Oriol Martorell, entre otros. Cada verano celebran la Acadèmia Mestral, un curso de saxofón y música de cámara.

El nombre Kebyart se inspira en el Gamelan Gong Kebyar, un género musical tradicional de Bali que también da nombre al conjunto instrumental con el que se interpreta. Aunque está formado por decenas de músicos, este conjunto se considera un solo instrumento. Su interpretación requiere un gran virtuosismo y una coordinación extrema, y se caracteriza por una gran riqueza tímbrica, rítmica y dramática.

Como embajadores de marca, Kebyart toca saxofones Selmer París y utiliza accesorios Vandoren.

Since its founding in the year 2014, Kebyart has broken barriers and firmly established itself in the classical music scene, performing at renowned festivals and concert halls where no saxophone quartet had ever played before and inspiring composers who had never written for the instrument, such as Jörg Widmann. This distinguished path was recognized by ECHO when they were named Rising Stars for the 2021-2022 season.

Kebyart’s artistic signature is reflected in a creative vision of the repertoire, structured around three main pillars: original literature, own arrangements of a wide range of styles, and a strong commitment to contemporary creation. In this regard, the quartet commissions new pieces annually from composers of different generations and musical styles, including Mikel Urquiza, David Philip Hefti, Mauricio Sotelo, Joan Magrané, and José Río-Pareja, among others. They have also worked with composers such as Péter Eötvös and Heinz Holliger.

Committed to musical excellence, Kebyart has received guidance from distinguished musicians and chamber ensembles, including Rainer Schmidt (Hagen Quartett), Hatto Beyerle (Alban Berg Quartett), Jonathan Brown (Cuarteto Casals), pianists Anton Kernjak and Claudio Martínez-Mehner and saxophonist Nacho Gascón. The quartet was part of the European Chamber Music Academy, working with professors Johannes Meissl and Patrick Jüdt.

The quartet will be artist-in-residence at the Palau de la Música Catalana for two seasons starting in the fall of 2025 and ensemble-in-residence at the Bodensee Festival in Germany in the spring of 2026, offering quartet recitals, performing as soloists with orchestra, collaborating with other artists, and giving masterclasses.

The name Kebyart is inspired by the Gamelan Gong Kebyar, a traditional musical genre from Bali that also names the instrumental ensemble that performs it. Although made up of dozens of musicians, this ensemble is considered a single instrument. Its performance requires great virtuosity and extreme coordination, and it is characterized by a rich timbral, rhythmic, and dramatic range.

The musicians of Kebyart are invited annually to teach at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) and other institutions such as Folkwang Universität der Künste Essen, Musikene, and Oriol Martorell, among others. Every summer, they host the Acadèmia Mestral, a saxophone and chamber music course in their homeland, Catalunya.

As brand ambassadors, Kebyart plays Selmer Paris saxophones and uses Vandoren accessories.
